FRAN: "I KEEP ENJOYING MYSELF" Midfielder Fran (34-years old) has been at the club since 1988 and was present when the team won all the trophies in its history. But this season has been different to the previous ones as Luque has taken over his position at the left wing. Nevertheless, when he's on the pitch he brings experience to the team when they need it most. And Fran still starts matches, as he did against Albacete on Sunday. Q: How did you experience playing against Albacete? A: I felt fine. I keep going out to enjoy myself, especially when we win like we did at the Carlos Belmonte stadium. Q: It seems that Luque has taken over the left wing and makes thing hard for you. A: He's doing a good job. But the most important thing for me is to be prepared when the coach needs me. Q: How do you, as captain of the team, evaluate the contract renewal of Juan Carlos Valeron? A: It was great news hearing that Juan Carlos has renewed his contract, as well as for the club as for him. His future has been assured and that brings him more easiness. Q: It seems that 'El Flaco' has integrated very well in La Coruna. A: This team has a good aspect which isn't valued enough. And that's the capacity to integrate new players. The dressing room, the club, the city, the supporters... Every player loves to sign at Deportivo and Valeron isn't an exception. Q: That also is expressed on the pitch and makes the team attractive. A: Deportivo has been playing at the top for years now and that's something players value. To play Champions League football is an excellent opportunity for every player, being a Spanish one or a foreigner. Q: What about Mauro's contract renewal? A: Mauro must have been confident about his strength to keep on playing for another season. Personally I think he has done the right thing. If you enjoy things I am a player who thinks one shouldn't quit then. Q: Has the team grown up compared to previous seasons? A: I don't know if we could call it that way. But the team has achieved regular performances despite the setbacks and injured players. Some players are doing a great job in the starting eleven. But when they're not available others step in to make up for it. Q: What's your bet for Sunday's clash between Real Madrid and Valencia? A: I think the team should win which deserves it most. We should keep ourselves on top of the Liga. We still have difficult away matches to play and the key is to be close to the first position when the final matches arrive. But we have great aspirations for this season. Q: How do you explain the gap between the three clubs at the top and the rest? A: There seem to more differences as in previous seasons. And indeed there's an abnormal big gip between the number three and the following teams. Real Madrid , Valencia and Deportivo already achieved a considerable gap at the start of the season. Q: What are the targets? A: Our target is to finish at a position which gives a right to play Champions League football. And we would prefer to avoid playing pre-round matches. But if we keep our options intact we should fight for the two titles left. Q: What has happened to Barcelona? A: Barcelona isn't the Dream Team anymore. They have done a bad job recently and haven't been able to replace the players who left the club. (咦...?這個............= =|||||) Q:And Deportivo? A: Without a doubt the key has been the easiness and continuance. The president has made a plan for the long term and the coach has directed this line. I think that's the key to our success. The target was to create a firm base in the squad and to strengthen it with some extra additions. Q: The only negative aspect keeps being the youth system. A: When I came from Deportivo B to play in the first team it was more easy because the step then wasn't that big. But the problems with Galician youth players isn't our exclusive problem, as Celta also don't use it much. There aren't many young players from the Galician youth systems who arrive at the top level. Q: How can the training facilities at Abegondo help? A: They will be very important because they help forming the youth players. But only within some years we can take advantage of it, not within a short period of time. Q: Juventus seems beatable this season. A: I don't trust them, because looking at their squad it's the same one as last season. Q: Finally, what about the Spanish national team? Can you see them becoming European champions? A: Inaki Saez goes for young players and he has many to chose from, although they still have a lot to demonstrate. But the less favourite they are the more chances they have. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 61.229.9.199
