[訪問] Hector對自己的表現很失望
Defender Hector Berenguel (29-years old) isn't satisfied about his
current situation at Deportivo. But the defender, who came on a free
transfer from Sevilla in 2001, prefers not talk too much about the theme
because he knows there's a lot at stake for Deportivo these weeks. Another
example of the loyalty he has shown the club although his relationship
with Javier Irureta isn't good.
Q: Why haven't you been picked for the squad after your sending off
against Albacete?
A: To be honest I haven't found an explanation. At Albacete I played a
good match and because of something which wasn't my mistake I was sent
off. Since then I haven't been picked.
Q: It isn't the first time that something like this happens to you. Do you
think it's normal that you always seem to pay a price?
A: It's hard for me to understand, and I don't think I am the only one who
doesn't understand it. Like every player I need to play matches in a row.
And it's clear that doing this doesn't depend on me.
Q: Maybe your performances haven't convinced the coach...
A: I don't think that’s the case, because I have been doing well. I
don't think it's a technical thing, so the only thing to do is to continue
working to keep the fine form I am in now.
Q: Are you mad?
A: Now, I am not mad. I just need to play because I feel fine and I don't
want to let this moment pass by.
Q: Are you considering leaving Deportivo at the end of the season?
A: At the end of the season I will discuss that topic. At the moment I
don't think it's good to talk about things like this. My team is playing
important matches and I don't want to talk about it now.
Q: How's your relationship with Irureta?
A: It's a normal situation and we don't have any problem.
Q: Do you think you have to bring more than your colleagues?
A: I don't know if that's the case. I only focus on what I have to do,
and that's training and working to get back into the team.
Q: How about living in La Coruna and your relationship with the supporters?
A: I could not be more at ease here. I like the city and its people.
The supporters always have treated me very well and have helped me a lot.
Maybe it's the best place where I have ever been.
Q: Is the Liga lost for Deportivo?
A: It isn't lost simply because of the fact that in a mathematical way
we have options to win it. But it's true that the situation is very
complicated, because in only two weeks the gap has doubled. The difference
was four points and now it's nine, that's even more than double.
Q: But Deportivo are playing well.
A: That's true. The team is doing very well and against Barca we also
played a good match. But Barcelona displayed their best version.
Q: What about the next matches at Valencia and Juventus?
A: I'm optimistic. It won't be easy at all, that's evident. But I think
the team has fine form and at both pitches will earn something. I am
convinced of that.
