FRAN BECOMES A LIVING LEGEND ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- "O Neno" (The Kid), as he is nicknamed in Galicia, has truly became a living legend for Depor. Captain Fran (34) completed 400 games for Deportivo last Saturday. On August 31, 1991, two things happened: Depor played their first game in first division after a long time lost in lower categories. It ended up 2-1 at Riazor against Valencia. It was the beginning of the Super Depor era. But equally important, this was the game where a local young lad - Fran - made his debut in the first division. He had already been in the club since 1988. Few could suspect back then that this talented individual would eventually become not just the captain of the team, but the only player in the history of the club to achieve what he has just achieved. Twelve years and 7 months later Fran is a symbol of the 'deportivismo'. In 400 games he has played 30,750 minutes, where Depor won 188 games, lost 101, and draw in 111 occasions. He has scored an overall of 43 goals, and always for Depor. During his career he has only been sent off four times, last time being in the 1998-99 season. Fran has been a key reference in all the triumphs of Depor.
