Jeronimo... A. Call me "Momo" please. Nobody has called me Jeronimo in a long time. Q. Why "Momo"? A. It's just a short version for my name. People in my neighbourhood started calling me like that when we were playing football, and then in my team, and at the end absolutely everybody, even my family. Nobody calls me Jeronimo anymore. Q. If you play in the Champions League we will have to call you "Mister Momo"... A. [laughs] I wish! But let's be realistic. If we take a look at Depor's squad... ufff... It'll be very difficult for me to play this year. Q. Therefore, do you think you are going to be loaned out to another team? A. I don't know that for sure. The only thing I know is that, so far, president Lendoiro told both Ruben and myself that we're going to do the preseason with Deportivo. Then, we'll have a chance to convince Irureta. After that we'll see, even though I'm aware that I could easily end up in another first division team. Q. Racing Santander, Albacete, Malaga, or any other? A. That's a difficult question now. I don't know. Q. Are not you worried with all this loaning out activity? It begins to be a habit at Depor. A. That could be dangerous. I wouldn't like to be loaned out, of course, but that's why we were fighting over the length of my contract. Depor wanted me to sign for seven seasons, and we managed to reduce that to two seasons. You never know what's going to happen. Q. Mallorca made a lot of pressure, but you are going to A Coruna. Why? A. Because after all it was the best option. My former club, Las Palmas, had reached an agreement with Depor, and then Mallorca made another interesting offer. Nevertheless, at the end, we decided that Depor's offer was alright. Q. You are 21 years old. When you are that age what do you prefer? To play more? To make more money? Or make your former team proud? A. [smiles] A bit of everything. At Mallorca I had more chances to be a starter, but I also like the challenge of fighting for a place at Depor. Q. Fran, Luque, Momo... Where do you see yourself? A. You name two players that... Luque is going through a great spell, and he had an amazing season. He's an excellent player and he had already shown his quality at Mallorca. And about Fran, well, what can I say about him? I'm still a fresher and Fran is a legend at A Coruna. He's an 'institution' there and, although last season he didn't play that much, I believe he can still play for a long time. Q. Have you ever been told that your signing would depend on Luque's transfer to FC Barcelona? A. I have no idea. But, if you look at this situation carefully, I wish they sell Luque, because this way there would be less competence for me [burst of laughter]. This way I'd have a chance... You know, playing at Depor is not easy at all. Q. Do you know any of the other Canarian players at Depor? A. No, because when they were playing here I was still a child. Nevertheless, as a good fellow-countryman, I've been following their careers. Q. And that is how you became familiar with Depor, isn't it? A. Not at all. I knew Depor long before that. It's a club I've always liked because they had players that I liked a lot and who I've enjoyed watching. That's the case with Bebeto and Donato, not to mention Turu. Q. Who would be your star at Depor? A. None of them.
