[國家隊]Victor&Romero重回國家隊
VICTOR AND ROMERO BACK IN SPANISH TEAM
Thursday 19th August, 2004 --
Deportivo players Victor Sanchez and Romero returned to the Spanish
team on Wednesday during a 3-2 friendly win against Venezuela. Both
players hadn’t played for their country since a while, as for the
winger it had been almost three years ago.
victor和romero在星期三的國家隊比賽中再次為西班牙國家隊披掛上陣
兩位球員都友好一陣子沒有入選國家隊了
尤其是victor,這位中場球員上次入選國家隊已經是三年前的事情了
Romero occupied the left wing, which was covered by Raul Bravo
during the disastrous performances of Spain at the Euro 2004
tournament. One year ago Romero seemed to have played his last
match for the Spanish team, because his age (33), the presence
of rivals (Capdevila, Raul Bravo) and lack of reputation (the
defender had played just seven international matches until then)
looked to mark an end to this period. But on Wednesday he beat
his rivals and formed the defence together with Canizares
(goalkeeper), Puyol and Helguera (central defenders) and Michel
Salgado (right defender).
romero在比賽中擔任左後衛,以往他在國家隊也同樣擔任這個位置,但去年
已經三十三歲的他已漸漸被其他球員所取代,星期三他與cani,puyol,helguera
和salgado共同擔任國家隊後防的重責大任
The Spanish midfield was provided by Valencia, as the presence
of Vicente, Albelda and Baraja wasn’t a surprise. The right
wing, covered at the Euro 2004 tournament by Etxeberria, Joaquin
and even Luque, was for Victor Sanchez and in this way he earned
his seventh match with Spain. The winger had played six matches
for the Spanish team between February, 2000 and November, 2001,
and this could be considered a crucial return. Morientes and Raul
formed the striking duo of Spain, once again sacrificing Valeron.
All eleven starting players came from the best four Spanish clubs
(Valencia, Barcelona, Deportivo and Real Madrid).
As mentioned, Luis Aragones’ first match as national coach of
Spain resulted in a narrow win and one to forget about. 32,000
spectators at Gran Canaria watched how Victor Sanchez and Michel
Salgado set up Spain’s first goal scored by Morientes. Minutes
later the match was level again thanks to Rojas, and Aragones
brought Reyes, Valeron, Fernando Torres and Raul Tamudo after the
break.
The second half, with these attacking players, would be a much
better one and soon Raul Tamudo gave Spain a new lead. Once again
Victor Sanchez was involved, as out of his corner kick the goal
was produced. The best goal of Spain was produced through a
combination between Reyes and Tamudo, with the Espanyol striker
scoring his second of the night and Spain’s third. In injury-time
Rafael Castelin decreased the Spanish lead, although this was too
late to endanger the result.
