Depor move for Chamakh

Reports in the Moroccan press suggest that Deportivo La Coruna are hoping to
procure the signing of Bordeaux front man Marouane Chamakh.
The 21-year-old, who is considered by many to be the best African player
plying his trade in Europe, is also a target for French champions Lyon.
However, Lyon have recently had an ￡8 million bid rejected by their French
rivals and it seems unlikely that they will be able to finance an increased
offer, leaving the Spaniards in pole position for the player's signature.
Deportivo have long been rumoured to be chasing the player but now appear to
have sufficient funds to be able to broker a deal with the French club.
Chamakh, who has French citizenship, enjoyed an outstanding African Cup of
Nations last year and has since been coveted by some of Europe's biggest
clubs.
