[訪問]Luque:讓我上場，我就進球給你看!

Last summer Albert Luque (25-years old) lived through a similar situation like
Roy Makaay had this summer. But now the young Catalan striker has become a
player not to be sold by Deportivo in any case. Irureta will probably use him
as either a winger on the left or as second striker (behind Tristan). Luque
himself assures that "my goals will come if I will play".
Q: Have the results of the pre-season so far been disappointing?
A: No, as the only important matches in the near future are for the Champions
League. And I have no doubt that it will be against Rosenborg. Until that day
the results of the friendlies won't affect us.
Q: Has all surrounding Makaay affected the Deportivo squad?
A: I am a personal friend of Makaay and always have been asking about his
situation. He has been the one most affected. I was in a similar position last
season and was training without knowing about my future. I hasn't affect the
group, but it did affect Roy.
Q: But it's an important loss for Deportivo...
A: That's evident. To lose a player like Roy is always important, whatever team
he's at. He's a player of an excellent level and it's normal that big teams
were after him.
Q: An attacking line with Tristan, Pandiani and you still is a guaranty for
goals.
A: Despite who will leave there will remain two or three players of prime level
and Deportivo won't have problems. Goals are guaranteed in this team. I have
spoken to Irureta and he has told me that he also counts on me for the left
wing. I don't mind playing wherever he wants me to.
Q: So you could perform as a winger this seasons?
A: It can be. I love to play upfront and to score goals. But I have no problems
with playing at the left if the coach asks me to.
Q: Would you be satisfied with a season like last one?
A: No, I always want more. Last season I scored 8 Liga goals and 4 Copa goals
and I want to do better. But this will be difficult playing at the left wing
although my goals will come if I will play.
Q: Is the EURO 2004 tournament a target for you?
A: I knew that with my transfer to Deportivo it would be more difficult and
that the Spanish squad would be further away. But I am at a big club now
participating in important competitions. Next season I hope to have more
opportunities and to play the EURO 2004 tournament.
