[新聞]Songo'o is back!

Former Depor goalkeeper Jacques Songo'o (39) is back at the club. Deportivo
made the announcement yesterday night through its official webpage - the day
before the 'Liga' starts - and it has to be said that the news was completely
unexpected. He was playing for French club Metz.
As Songo'o himself says: "My signing for Depor is a complete surprise. I never
thought of wearing the Depor's strip again." Indeed: "When I finished my
contract with Metz I had a number of offers from France, but I came to A Coruna
[he owns a house in the city] in order to look for something in Spain, because
my family wanted to come back. In doing so, I was contacted by a Depor official
two days ago."
Songo'o - international with Cameroon - played for Depor from the 96/97 season
to 00/01. He won with Depor its first 'Liga' title (2000), the 'SuperCopa'
(2000), and he himself was awarded with the Zamora Trophy (best goalkeeper in
the 'Liga') in 1997. He is indeed a well-known and reliable keeper, once
considered to be amongst the best in the world despite the fact he does not
feel too confident when playing outside the small box. Nevertheless, many
wonder why Depor signs a 39 year-old player to be the third keeper while young
talented local Dani Mallo is to be loaned to Elche.
Songo'o admits: "I come to work as I was 20, and I want to show the coach that
I'm fit, that he can trust on me, although there are two great keepers before
me"
In any case, Songo'o is called to be the last Depor signing by now.
