Jarrod Parker, RHP ARI (8/24/88), ETA: 2010 Though he's not at the same level as Clayton Kershaw or Rick Porcello, Parker excites me as much as any other prep pitcher who has turned pro over the last three years. Miguel Montero, ARI (7/9/83) - MLB Montero struggled hitting for power on the road last season (.243 IsoP at home, .113 in the road). And though he had a 20% line-drive rate in Triple-A two seasons ago, he only managed a 12% rate last season. The lefthanded hitter has power to all fields and a good plate appreach. He may only peak as an average regular and he isn't a perfectly safe bet to reach his potential, but he's young enough where it's reasonable to expect him to continue to improve. Top 15 Third Basemen Under 25 http://tinyurl.com/6rrtbs 9. Mark Reynolds, ARZ (8/3/83) - MLB In 1,216 career MiLB at-bats, Mark Reynolds posted a .279/.349/.495 vital line. In his first 418 plate appearances as a major leaguer last season, the 6-foot-1 , 200-pounder went .279/.348/.495. How's that for consistency? Reynolds really started coming along in the high minors, netting .400 wOBA in 155 Double-A plate appearances last season to earn a trip to the Diamondbacks lineup. His .386 BABIP in the majors leaves some questioning his success, but his 20% LD rate suggests that he's simply hitting the ball really, really hard. Reynolds struck out a ton with the D-Backs (30.9% overall, 38.8% in August), but has the power potential — and developing patience — to become one of those classic "Three True Outcomes" types: he'll simply homer, walk and strikeout. Top 10 Center Fielders Under 25 http://tinyurl.com/6b6w63 1. Justin Upton, ARI (8/25/87) - MLB Upton went from South Bend to Visalia to Mobile to Arizona all prior to his 20th birthday. Sounds exhausting, but it's a very good sign. Selected No. 1 overall in the 2005 Draft, Upton reached the big leagues in 34 fewer at-bats than his older brother, B.J., who ranks third on this list. The younger Upton had a bit of a bumpy transition to pro ball during his first full season, leaving plenty of uncertainty for his second. He responded with a .294/.379/.502 vital line in 615 plate appearances over three stops last season . Upton played center field in the minors, but sharing the same outfield with No. 5 Chris Young, he'll be used in right by the Diamondbacks for now. He has 30 home-run, 1.000 OPS potential. 5. Chris Young, ARI (9/5/83) - MLB Another guy who fantasy owners may not expect to see this low, Young is coming off an undeniably impressive rookie season. And though he did hit 32 home runs and show some speed, his .236/.293/.466 vital line is far from flawless. Young is an extreme pull-hitter who gets the ball in the air but doesn't hit a ton of line drives.
