catcher in 2003, and he took to it well. He's athletic, has above-average
arm strength, and move around well behind the plate, showing good
leadership skills. ...... If he hits, he has the skills to be a regular major
league catcher.
.......Martin hit just .250 in the Florida State League this year, but he
contributed 24 doubles, 15 homers, and 71 walks, while striking out
only 54 times in 416 at-bats. The combination of a high walk rate with
a low strikeout rate is a very good sign. As long as he maintains that
sort of plate discipline, his power and on-base production should carry
to higher levels. ......
