2015 MLB team preview: Los Angeles Dodgers The Los Angeles Dodgers won their second straight NL West title last year, but a quick exit from the postseason led to a front office overhaul in the offseason. Ex-Rays GM Andrew Friedman was lured -- thanks to a massive five-year, $35 million contract -- away from Tampa Bay and installed as the new president of baseball operations. Friedman then brought in a new GM (Farhan Zaidi) and helped orchestrate a roster remake over the winter. Ellis, IF Justin Turner, OF Andre Ethier, OF Chris Heisey, 1B/OF Scott Van Slyke The starting lineup is very much a work in progress. I wouldn't take that probable lineup to heart. At worst, they're in the conversation. Howell Middle men - RHP Brandon League, LHP Paco Rodriguez, RHP Chris Hatcher Long man - RHP Juan Nicasio Jansen just had foot surgery last month and is not expected to start the season on time. The veteran Peralta seems like the most obvious candidate to assume closer duties in Jansen's absence, but Mattingly could opt for a closer by committee and use Howell against tough lefties in the ninth inning. (League has closer experience too, remember.) With Jansen on the shelf, righties Pedro Baez and Dustin McGowan are candidates to join the roster. Hatcher, who made the transition from catcher to pitcher in 2011, had a 3.38 ERA in 56 innings for Miami last season with excellent rate stats: 9.6 K/9, 1.9 BB/9 and 0.6 HR/9. He's relatively new to pitching and seemed to take that next step forward last year. Kind of puts his strong finish in perspective, doesn't it? Grandal wasn't full-go at the start of last season -- we know because the Padres wouldn't let him catch back-to-back games -- and it showed in his numbers. But as the season unfolded, he began playing more and more, his plate discipline gradually improved, and finally, he took off, batting .291 with four homers and a .927 OPS in September. It's a small sample but a potentially meaningful one given his pedigree. New president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman clearly bought into it, trading superstar Matt Kemp for Grandal, primarily. Getting him out of Petco Park, where he has a batting average 30 points lower and OPS 80 points lower than everywhere else, can only help." Kershaw is as good as any pitcher since peak Pedro Martinez, so good that he's overshadowed Greinke's consistent excellence the last two years. (Seriously, when was the last time a pitcher went 32-12, 2.68 across two seasons and got talked about as little as Greinke?) Ryu is among the best No. 3 starters in the game -- 28-15, 3.17 in his two MLB seasons -- and rounds out a tremendous front three. Not so much Kershaw, Greinke and Ryu -- though Greinke needed a lubrication injection for his elbow before camp and Ryu recently missed a few days with back issues -- but McCarthy and Anderson. McCarthy threw 200 innings for the first time in his career in 2014 after visiting the DL with an arm injury at least once every year from 2007-13. Most of those arm injuries were shoulder problems. Anderson has thrown only 206 1/3 innings total over the last four years, including only 43 1/3 last year. Beachy is already on the 60-day DL, meaning he won't be able to help until the end of April at the earliest. He is expected to be out longer than that though. Chances are Friedman & Co. will be looking to bring an arm to Los Angeles at the trade deadline. 備用先發投手目前應該是Bolsinger Wieland(剛開完TJ) Beach(剛開完第二次TJ) 及Gaudin(2014沒有投球) Beach剛簽就被丟進去60天DL 應該還有一段路要走就看看火人在交易大限前會不會變一些魔術呢 (Surpise me~) Outlook The Dodgers reshaped their roster this winter, essentially trading power (Matt Kemp and Hanley Ramirez) for defense (Rollins, Kendrick and Grandal). They were a good run prevention team last year even with a sketchy bullpen and the defensively challenged Kemp and Hanley (3.81 runs allowed per game was 10th best in baseball), so they reinforced a strength more than they fixed a weakness. 今年冬天躲人進行名單大改造拿Power(Kemp 小亨利)換防守(Rollins Kendrick及 Grandal?) 去年即使有爛牛棚跟防守漏洞(Kemp 小亨利) 每場只掉了3.81分 MLB第十名所以今年應該會更好 Even with the Padres being greatly improved and the Giants coming off their third World Series title in five years, I still see the Dodgers as the favorites in the NL West. I'm not sure they're better than last year's 94-win club -- in fact they might be a win or two worse -- but they're still excellent and a legitimate World Series contender.
