'Tired by football' The Czech midfield player quit Leverkusen last September complaining that he was "tired of football". The German side had hoped that Simak would eventually return, but decided to terminate his contract at the BayArena last week. Restart career Simak, 25, had made just ten starts for Leverkusen after moving from Hannover 96 for €6m in 2002. A free agent, Sparta have now offered to help him restart his career. "There's no doubt that he's a very gifted player and I will give him all possible backing," Sparta coach Frantisek Straka said. "But one breach of his contract and that will be it." 'I want to play again' Simak, who made several appearances for amateur side Sezimovo Usti last season, will likely sign a deal at the end of the training camp next week. "I had a good break, but I want to play again," he said. "My football mind is back." New faces Simak will become the third new face at Sparta following the loan signings of Czech Under-21 defender Jiri Koubsky from FC Tescoma Zlin and 22-year-old striker Michal Meduna from 1. FC Synot.
