Guzman could be out for the year
When the words "torn ligament" are part of a pitcher's shoulder injury, it's
never a good thing. Chicago Cubs right-hander Angel Guzman, who was expected
to be an integral part of the team's bullpen this season, has a torn ligament
in his throwing shoulder, and could miss the entire season.
ESPNChicago.com's Bruce Levine wrote Saturday that the shoulder injury is
related to the injury that shut down Guzman last September.
General manager Jim Hendry said that the first order of business will be
rehab, as they try to stave off a surgical procedure to repair the tear. If
surgery occurs, Guzman would not likely to pitch again for at least a year.
