Blue Jays manager John Farrell said before Friday's game that Jon Rauch would
be used as the team's closer while Frank Francisco works through his problems.
We knew that Francisco had been bumped from the role, but we weren't sure if
Farrell would go with Rauch or Octavio Dotel, who has pitched the best of the
triumvirate of late. Now we know it will be Rauch, who has converted 7-of-9
save chances this season but who has a 5.40 ERA over his last nine
appearances and a 4.21 ERA for the season. We're guessing Francisco will
probably get the job back shortly after the All-Star break, but with the Jays
bullpen this season, you never know.
