David Freese (back) will begin the season on the disabled list.
The Cardinals can backdate the DL stint, so the hope is that he'll be ready
for the team's home opener on April 8. Ryan Jackson will take his place on
the roster while Matt Carpenter, Ty Wigginton and Daniel Descalso are all
options to fill in at the hot corner.
