[閒聊] 瓜帥賽後記者會震怒

“I know it won’t make the news today but we’re back to our best, and have
achieved a significant victory,” Guardiola said in the post-match press
conference focused almost exclusively on the late trip to Pamplona.
On the confusion that happened yesterday, he said, “It was never a unilateral
decision made by us. We were always in touch with the Federation [RFEF] and
AENA [Aviation Authority].”
“This country faced a major disruption. At 19.00pm yesterday, it was reported
air traffic controllers were on strike. We were just one of the more than
400,000 people who got stranded because of exceptional circumstances.”
“We never travel on matchday by bus. To play against Osasuna we have to be at
our best. They were unbeaten at home in 12 matches, and getting here as we were
today, was not the best way to go about it.”
“We, above all, were ready to make the trip as we wanted to play on Saturday
because we have a Champions League match on Tuesday.”
“We did plan on taking the train but AENA made us believe that there was a
potential for air travel and that the airspace would be open by 11.00am.”
“We don’t mind travelling. Last year, we made a 14 hour bus ride to play in
the Champions League [semi-final] because UEFA said they would not postpone the
match. But the Federation [RFEF] told us if we could not fly, the match would
be postponed to Sunday.”
Asked if the club wielded its influence, the coach was visibly annoyed: “We're
not that powerful. It is the Federation that sets the game time, but relented
after coming under pressure, and told us that we would forfeit the match if we
did not make it. You know how it is here [Spain]. We chose to make the trip
because we preferred to come than to lose three points.”
“We know we are from a country [state] called Catalunya, and if the websites,
radio or television want to confuse people, let them, but we only do what the
Federation tells us. A lot of non-truths have been said, so let me give my
version. If you don’t want to believe me, then I’m sorry for you.”
“I will not apologise because you are the ones who have told the lies.”
Raised with the possibility that he might, from now on, be more cautious about
the team’s travel plans, Guardiola disagreed: “I’ve been doing the same for
the past two years, and we’ll carry on with making the trip on [the] matchday.
Had we foresee any difficulties ahead, we’ll depart early but we were told
otherwise. Had we known, we would have taken the 9.00am train.”
However, the coach did convey his apology to where it was due: “I understand
the disappointment felt by Osasuna and their spectators. We are sorry for the
people of Pamplona. We feel bad. They have always had treated us right.”
Finally on the match, he just said, “I’m very pleased with the performance
of my players.”
