Paulo Bento signs new Sporting deal

Sporting Clube de Portugal have decided the futures of two key men while a
question mark remains against Ricardo Sa Pinto's participation next season.

Bento rewarded
Coach Paulo Bento is rewarded for guiding Sporting to second place in the Liga
and qualification for the 2006/07 UEFA Champions League group stage. The
former Portuguese international has signed a two-year contract to continue the
work he started midway through the season when he replaced Jose Peseiro at the
helm. Formerly a midfielder with Sporting, SL Benfica and Real Oviedo, among
others, he had been employed in the club's youth department before taking
charge.
教練Paulo Bento帶領Sporting在聯賽拿到第2名，
得以自動晉級06／07賽季歐冠小組賽。
而他也簽下了2年的合約繼續留在本賽季中途接手Jose Peseiro的教練位置。
這名前Sporting、SL Benfica、Real Oviedo、、、等隊的中場球員，
在成為Sporting的教練之前是在俱樂部裡的青年隊工作。
Abel boost
Also prolonging his stay with the Lisbon outfit is right-back Abel, who has
been handed a three-year deal after impressing during a six-month loan spell
from SC Braga. The 27-year-old, whose previous sides include FC Penafiel and
Vitoria SC, said: "It is an honour to represent this club."
另外一個確定續留的球員是右後衛的Abel，
在令人印象深刻的從SC Braga租借過來的6個月結束後，他得到了一份3年的合約。

Shrouded in doubt
However, the future of Sa Pinto remains a mystery. The 33-year-old centre-
forward and club talisman had announced yesterday that he was reneging on a
decision to retire this summer, yet that statement was contradicted today by
Sporting president Filipe Soares Franco: "Sa Pinto will not be renewing his
contract. He is a Sporting icon and the doors of the club are always open to
him, but not those of the first team."
不過Sa Pinto的未來仍然是一個謎。
這名33歲的中鋒在昨天宣稱推翻之前決定要在今年夏天退休的話，
不過今天Sporting的主席Filipe Soares Franco否認了這項消息：
「Sa Pinto不會拿到新的合約。
他是Sporting的一個標誌，俱樂部的門也將永遠為他打開，但並不是一隊。」
