Formerly a right winger, Miguel was converted into a right back while at
Benfica and his earlier experience makes him a dangerous prospect when he
supports the attack. Miguel will battle with Chelsea's Paulo Ferreira for the
right back position at the 2006 FIFA World Cup and his performances for
Valencia this season may just give him the edge. Miguel played in five of
Portugal's matches at UEFA Euro 2004, including the final, and he appeared in
four qualification matches for Germany 2006.
