Porto captain Emanuel could be out for rest of year
LISBON, Aug 13 (Reuters)

Porto captain Pedro Emanuel could be out of action the rest of 2006 after
surgery on a torn Achilles on Sunday.

"The surgery went very well," Porto doctor Jose Noronha said on the club's
web site.
Emanuel was injured while warming up before a pre-season friendly on Saturday.

The 31-year-old suffered a total tear of his left tendon prior to Porto's 1-0
away victory over English side Manchester City.
The inspirational player's injury comes as a second blow in the space of a few
days for the former European champions, following the resignation of the
club's Dutch coach Co Adriaanse on Wednesday.
Porto begin their title defence with a home match against Uniao Leiria on
August 27.
