Portugal squad has improved since opening Euro match: Scolari

Portugal coach Luiz Felipe Scolari said that his players are in better shape
since their 1-1 draw against Finland in their opening Euro 2008 qualifying
match last month.

"Their physical condition has greatly improved and today we're in a much
better situation than during the game against Finland," he told a news
conference in the northern city of Oporto.

Portugal, who finished fourth at the World cup in Germany, face Azerbaijan
in Oporto on Saturday before traveling east to face Poland four days later.

The Brazilian coach said he would be pleased with a win and a draw from the
two Group A matches.

"If we collect four points, I will be happy. If we get more points, I will
be even happier, if we collect less points I will be less happy, we will be
in debt and will have to chase after those lost points," he said.

Earlier this week Werder Bremen striker Hugo Almeida and Stuttgart defender
Fernando Meira withdrew from Scolari's squad for the two matches due to
injury.

Scolari is renewing the Portuguese squad following the international
retirement of captain Luis Figo and striker Pauleta after the World Cup
finals.
