Ricardo Completes Betis Switch

Real Betis Balompie have completed the €3m signing of Portuguese
international goalkeeper Ricardo Pereira from Sporting Lisbon, the player's
agent has confirmed.
Nuno Baptista acknowledged that only intense perserverence by the Spanish club
ensured that the deal was pushed through.
Ricardo will pen a four-year deal with the Andalucian outfit, while 20 percent
of the transfer fee will go to the keeper's former club, Boavista.
"It was only possible due to the relentless persistence of Betis," Baptista
stated.
Sporting were keen for the 31-year-old to sign a new deal with them, but
after he refused they agreed to the sale rather than allow him to leave on a
free, when his current contract expires next summer.
Pedro Contreras and Toni Doblas shared the goalkeeping duties at Betis last
term as the club battled until the final day to retain their top flight
status.
Cuper is keen to rebuild the squad after taking the reins last term and
knows that many changes need to be made after two years of struggle.
Ricardo is the club's third signing of the summer after Mark Gonzalez arrived
from Liverpool and Mariano Pavone was signed from Estudiantes.
