No.7 seed Tommy Robredo has swept into the quarterfinals with a 6-4 6-2
3-6 6-4 win over Frenchman Richard Gasquet on Vodafone Arena.
No.18 seed Gasquet struggled with his serve throughout the match and the
Spaniard made the most of his opponent's woes, creating 21 breakpoints
and, while he converted just four of them, it was enough to see him through.
The Frenchman was forced to defend breakpoints in his first two service
games of the fourth set and appeared to be through the worst of his troubles
when he managed to hang on and then hold his next game comfortably.
A determined Robredo wasn't to be denied, however, and eventually did break
Gasquet's serve - after going up 15-40 in the tenth game of the set - to
take the match.
The Spaniard now faces the daunting task of a quarterfinal clash with world
No.1 Roger Federer.
