Australian Open runner-up Jo-Wilfried Tsonga has been forced to pull out of
the French Open due to a knee injury.
Frenchman Tsonga had been seeded 14th at Roland Garros for this year's
tournament, which starts on Sunday.
He will have surgery on his right knee next week and will miss Wimbledon, the
Olympic Games and possibly the US Open.
"After long discussions with my doctors and knee specialist, I made the
decision not to play the French Open and to have surgery," said Tsonga.
"It's enormously frustrating. To play very well in any Grand Slam is super,
but to play very well at Roland Garros would have been magic."
