2003 IN REVIEW The Frenchman finished in Top 100 for seventh consecutive year in singles... Also finished in Top 10 in doubles after winning first Grand Slam title, reaching finals at two Tennis Masters Series tournaments and reaching final at Tennis Masters Cup Doubles in HoustonaIn singles, began season with run to QF in Doha (l. to El Aynaoui) and followed with 3rd RD showing at Australian Open (l. to Ferrero in five sets)... Did not progress beyond 2nd RD in next 15 ATP tournaments, but upset defending champion Moya in 1st RD at TMS Cincinnati and reached final at St. Jean de Luz Challenger in September (l. to Labadze)... Had streak of 34 consecutive TMS tournaments played come to an end when missed Miami... Enjoyed best week of year in native France in September when he reached the SF with wins over Veronelli, Mutis and Popp before losing to countryman ClementaFollowing week, advanced to QF in Lyon (l. to Srichaphan)... In Doubles, captured first Grand Slam title in Melbourne w/Llodra (d. K nowles-Nestor in F)... Following month, also captured title in Marseille w/Grosjean... Reached TMS finals in Monte-Carlo (l. to Bhupathi-Mirnyi) and Rome (l. to Arthurs-Hanley) as well as final in Metz (l. to Benneteau-Mahut) all w/Llodra... Qualified for TMC in Houston and reached final w/Llodra (l. to Bryan/Bryan)...
