On court in French, Federer said rescuing No. 1 birthday present for Nadal.
(But Rafa must still win tournament.)

Wasn't here for Federer's 2009 win, but have never seen the crowd this into a
match, not even for a French player.
直得關注點1 贏球反應Copy去年WTF跟09馬德里,但更帥!

I've got face-ache from all the smiling, and I still can't stop.
Someone asked a long time ago for a translation of Roger's on-court interview
with Cédric Pioline. Lots of background noise, applause, cheering, laughter,
smiles from Roger.
CP: Roger, bravo. I don't know about you, but I'm getting chills with this
atmosphere. It's madness!
RF: Yes, so am I. And it's not even the final.
CP: Before we talk about the match itself, you have to live moments like this
when you play tennis, to get into the finals, for this atmosphere.
RF: There you are, yes, that's clear. I've trained / practised a lot all my
life for this kind of match. There was a tremendous amount of pressure on
Novak, and I think he played really well.
CP: Anyway, I don't know whether John McEnroe is around - you've given him a
little present because you're the first to beat Novak this year, so therefore
you help him to keep his record of 42 consecutive wins [I guess they're not
counting Djokovic's 2 DC wins from the end of 2010]. Do you think he'll offer
you a little bottle of champagne, for example?
RF: Honestly, I don't need [a present] - I told him at the net... (laughter
from the crowd and Roger) no, what I'd like to say is that I told Novak at
the net that his record, even if it's not the greatest because there are
others who've done more, today it's so physical, it's so professional, what
he's just accomplished is just unbelievable. It was a great pleasure to play
against him. I've already had great matches, but this is certainly one of the
best we've ever had against each other, finishing late in the evening with
such an atmosphere. I think it's really [didn't catch what he said, the
crowd's cheers drowned it out]
CP: There were a tremendous amount of important moments during the match, but
don't you think that winning the first set was determinant for the rest?
RF: Yes, the first set was monstrous. I think we were both a bit tired around
the 2nd set because honestly, it was played at an incredible speed. It's
clear that I had a bit of luck because he had two set points, but it's
usually like that when we play. There's always very little in it. I had match
point against him at the US Open, then afterwards at the Australian Open,
even if it was three sets it was ultra-(serious?) and again this evening as
well. I really like playing against Novak because it's super-athletic every
time, great points every time. So I really enjoyed myself. It's thanks to him
that the match was so good.
CP: He's a great champion. And now you're going to meet another great
champion, one that you know of old - Rafa in the final on Sunday. Prediction?
RF (laughing): Isn't it his birthday today?
CP: Yes, it's not Sunday, it's today.
RF: Yes, I've already played on his birthday. So maybe it's a good present
for him that I beat Novak, because he has those consecutive defeats against
Novak. But to finish, playing against Rafa who I think is my main rival, is
always great. It's another Grand Slam final, so it's clear that this is
another of those moments we live for, as tennis players. To finish, he's had
a great tournament, even if some people were saying that he'd forgotten how
to play tennis. But he's there, and it's going to be a very difficult final.
CP: Thank you Roger, and good luck for Sunday.
The French commentators start by saying what a genius Roger is, and end by
saying how classy he is. Real love-fest there. I love it.
