The Golden State Warriors were in a position Thursday where they had to make
a decision. Should they go with potential and draft a number of nice prospects,
or go with the safe pick and draft someone like Jameer Nelson? They went with
potential, selecting Andris Biedrins with the 11th pick in the 2004 NBA Draft.
Biedrins, a 6'11 240 lb forward/center from Latvia, was a steal at eleven.
Many analysts had him going much higher in the draft. At one point Biedrins
was even considered a top five pick. For him to drop to the Warriors was a
gift.
