Warriors put team up for sale, hire advising firm

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) -- The Golden State Warriors are for sale -- and Oracle
Corp. CEO Larry Ellison has already made it well known he wants to buy the
team.

Cohan bought the Warriors in 1995 for $95 million. The latest Forbes Magazine
valuation for the franchise listed the Warriors at $315 million, though with
the cheaper sales recently of the New Jersey Nets (80% to Mikhail Prokhorov
for $200 million) and Charlotte Bobcats ($275 million to Michael Jordan) it's
assumed Cohan will have trouble getting the valuation price.
