There’s no doubt about that. That tournament marked a spurt in Thompson’s on-court confidence. Andrew Bogut’s Australia team qualified last summer, just a few weeks after the Warriors won their championship. Because their country is the host, the Warriors’ Leandro Barbosa and Anderson Varejao of Brazil also will be playing in Rio. They will play a few exhibition games around the country — maybe even in Oakland — before leaving for Rio. The Olympics begin Aug. 5. But it will be more high-pressure basketball for some tired bodies.
