But Murray has been hugely impressive - running the world number one close in a manner that bodes incredibly well for the future. Federer 6-5 Murray: Heartbreak for Murray as Federer goes on the attack and breaks him at the worst possible time. Now Murray must break Federer immediately to keep the match alive. Federer 5-5 Murray: Any hope Murray has of stealing the set are snuffed out as Federer races to 40-0 in rapid time. Federer 4-5 Murray: Murray is making Federer work harder than anyone dared believe. The reigning champion has to produce two of his best forehands to take the game to deuce, and then misses a break point as Murray finds a big serve and great forehand to inch ahead. Federer 4-4 Murray: Any hopes Murray has of winning a fourth game on the bounce are snuffed out as Federer finds his range with his serve and holds with ease. Federer 3-4 Murray: Murray refuses to be beaten. Federer goes all-out to get the break back straight away, and Murray withstands the attack to hold serve and go ahead for the first time. His ability to raise his game when the match situation requires it is once again on display. Federer 3-3 Murray: Murray is a fighter - he trades blows with the six-time Major winner, goes 40-15 up and takes the second of those break points to level the second set. Now he is forcing Federer into errors, just when it seemed as if the match had gone. Federer 3-2 Murray: Murray saves a break point after Federer's big forehand threatens to steal another game, and then forces two errors to hold on. His self-belief is back - it is a huge occasion for the 18-year-old, and he looks at home in this exalted company. Federer 3-1 Murray: Murray is going off the boil and Federer tightens his grip on the match. Murray is still producing at least one great point per game, but he is making more errors than in his semi-final - partly because Federer's dominance is forcing him to go for big winners earlier than he would like. Federer 2-1 Murray: Good stuff from Murray - he holds serve with a solid display. He is far from overwhelmed in his first major final. Federer 2-0 Murray: Federer opens up some daylight and Murray now has to dig deep to stay alive. Federer is not at his absolute best but even at 85% he is still too good. Federer 1-0 Murray: Not the start Murray wanted. Three unforced errors give Federer the early break - Federer is hard enough to beat as it is, and Murray fails to make him work. Murray is only landing around 40% of his first serves, and Federer is taking advantage. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- First set: Federer 6-3 Murray: With a forehand volley, Federer takes the first set in 37 minutes. But this is no rout - Murray has surprised Federer with his variety, speed around the court and reading of the game. Federer 5-3 Murray: Needing to hold serve to stay in the game, Murray does so in style. That line-call in the last game has cleared riled him and he responds by holding to deuce. Federer 5-2 Murray: A few errors creep into both players' games. Murray is getting some joy slicing backhands to Federer's forehand and sets up three deuce points, the third with a magnificent cross-court pass past a startled Federer. A very late line-call then denies Murray what looks like a legitimate break point, and he shakes his head as Federer closes in on the first set. Federer 4-2 Murray: Murray saves one break point when Federer nets a second-serve return, but the pressure is on. Federer works another break point only for Murray to save it with a fine forehand drop volley, and the young Scot then aces Federer wide to win the game. Federer 4-1 Murray: Murray has a brief glimmer of a break at 30-30, but a marginal line call gives Federer the advantage and the world number one seals the game. But Murray is making him work for it. Federer 3-1 Murray: Murray gets going with an excellent service game to love. Two wonderful passing shots indicate that he is settling into this final - there are no outward signs of nerves. Federer 3-0 Murray: Murray has barely put a foot wrong, but Federer has already opened a gap. The Swiss is efficiency personified - marching through the points without breaking sweat. Federer 2-0 Murray: A huge moment for Murray - his first service game of his first ATP final, against the greatest player of the modern era. He goes to 40-15 up, but then a double fault and Federer cross-court pass bring him back to deuce. Two moments of Federer genius later and the game has gone. Federer 1-0 Murray: Federer starts off as he means to go on - landing his first serves, firing his big forehand and not giving Murray a chance to find his feet. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 218.167.175.252
