Henman has been struggling with a back injury and was playing his first match since the US Open in August. The British number one edged a tight first set when Dupuis dropped serve in the 11th game. And after dropping his own serve immediately in the second, Henman hit back with two breaks to seal victory. "Not only was I really pleased with the way I played, I was more interested in how I would feel physically and I feel I came through very, very well," said Henman. The next 24 hours is still important, but I do feel confident that I'll react OK Tim Henman "Today I didn't feel anything. There were no aches and pains, no twinges. "Second point going up for the smash I'm thinking this could hurt, but fortunately it didn't and that's a good sign. "The next 24 hours is still important, but I do feel confident that I'll react OK." Monday's win was Henman's first since he beat Chile's Nicolas Massu at the Cincinnati Masters on 15 August. "I felt like I wanted to be very meticulous and disciplined with my service games, and I think I did a very good job with that," said the Briton. "I got a break out of nothing, then the first game of the second set it was a lapse in concentration more than anything. "But I do like the way I responded from that. I just played another good service game and just felt all round it was a good performance." Henman's next opponent will be the winner of Tuesday's match between Radek Stepanek and Luis Horna. The performance against Dupuis was a huge boost for Henman, who is under pressure for his British number one ranking from Greg Rusedski. Rusedski, who plays in Moscow this week, is ranked two places behind Henman at 29 in the world. Sixth seed Fernando Gonzalez of Chile was an early winner in Vienna, defeating Czech Tomas Berdych 6-2 6-2. And local favourite Oliver Marach had a surprise 6-4 6-3 win over Jiri Novak of the Czech Republic. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 218.167.171.59
