Rusedski sent crashing in Moscow
Greg Rusedski has been beaten by Russian Igor Kunitsyn in the second round
of the Kremlin Cup in Moscow.
The British number two, who reached the final last year, made 28 unforced
errors in a 7-6 (7-5) 6-3 defeat.
Rusedski managed to hold serve under pressure in the third game but it was
to no avail as the assured Russian stayed cool to win the tie-break.
Kunitsyn broke Rusedski in the eighth game of the second set and held on
to win the match in one hour 24 minutes.
The defeat is a blow to Rusedski's hopes of overtaking Tim Henman as
British number one.
Rusedski will fall further behind Henman in the rankings as he has failed
to match his performance in Moscow last year.
The race to be British number one will continue at next week's Madrid
Masters where Henman is defending points from reaching the last 16 in 2004
while Rusedski did not play.
