http://0rz.net/0a1PR Federer Keeps Moving by Lisa Zimmerman Friday, September 1, 2006 Long-time foes Roger Federer and Tim Henman met on Friday in round-two action in Arthur Ashe Stadium, with Federer, the No. 1 player in the world and this year's top seed, taking the match in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4, 7-5. Federer and Henman have faced each other previously a total of 11 times. Coming into this tournament, Henman held a one-game advantage over his Swiss opponent -- one of only a handful of players to boast more wins than losses over this year's No. 1 seed. The 25-year-old Federer is defending his title for the second consecutive year and is coming off his third consecutive Wimdbledon championship. As for this match, it was just not meant to be for Henman, who advanced to the second round after beating fellow Brit Greg Rusedski earlier in the week. Federer was on from the first serve, seemingly placing his shots at will. The 31-year-old Henman struggled to keep up and appeared to have a more difficult time sustaining his rhythm. By by match's end, Henman had racked up 38 unforced errors to just 17 for Federer. In typical fashion, Federer showcased a gamut of electrifying shots, which kept the crowd in the chilly and windy stadium excited throughout. In one particular instance, Federer reached around and hit through his legs, bringing the crowd to its feet and a broad smile not just to Federer's face, but to Henman's, as well, as both players gazed up to the stadium screen to watch the replay. Federer moves on to face the winner of the match between American Vince Spadea and Swede Jonas Bjorkman. Down the line, Federer could face American James Blake, this year's No. 5 seed and a huge US Open crowd favorite, in the quarterfinals.
