Henman and Murray make progress
Both Britons eased past their opponents
Tim Henman joined Andy Murray in the second round of the Pacific Life
Open at Indian Wells with a 6-3 6-1 win over American qualifier Donald Young.
Henman was rarely troubled as he booked a second-round meeting in
California against Czech 23rd seed Tomas Berdych.
Murray had made similarly easy progress with a 6-2 6-1 win over Greek
qualifier Vasilis Mazarakis. He now plays Russian fifth seed Nikolay
Davydenko.
Greg Rusedski's match against Stanislas Wawrinka was postponed because
of rain.
The British number three will now face the Swiss player at around 1800
GMT on Saturday.
Henman kept his cool when Young had five break points early on then took
two of the three opportunities he had to clinch the first set.
Two breaks, each inflicted at the first opportunity, did the trick for
Henman in the second.
Rain delayed the start of Murray's match but the 18-year-old Scot needed
just 47 minutes to book his second-round berth.
Murray was quick to capitalise on each of his three break points in the
first set.
Mazarakis managed a break of his own in the second, but the British
number one stormed home by winning 24 of the 33 points played.
In other action, former world number one Marat Safin of Russia beat
American qualifier Amer Delic 6-3 6-4.
