Roddick, who has lost to Murray twice already this year, looked in impressive form as he beat the Argentine 6-4 6-3. "I'm hitting the ball better right now than I have going into any of the other two matches against him," said Roddick. Rafael Nadal continued his steady improvement on hardcourts with a straight-sets win over Tommy Haas. The Spaniard won 7-6 (7-5) 6-3 to set up a quarter-final against Juan Carlos Ferrero, who beat Robin Soderling. Nadal edged a tight first set but always looked the stronger in the second, breaking to love in game eight.
