Murray aims to maintain top form

Andy Murray is determined to maintain his fine start to the season after
retaining his title in San Jose.
The 19-year-old Scot suffered a slump in form after winning the same event
- his first ATP title - last year.
"I think I have more experience this year," he said. "Last year I lost in
three sets in Indian Wells, Miami, Monte Carlo and Barcelona.
"This year I have won all the three-set matches I've played. So that's the
key, sticking in there in tough matches."
After winning the title last year, Murray reached the quarter-finals in
Memphis the following week but then failed to win more than one match in
his next nine tournaments, crashing out in the first round in six of them.
The poor run lasted until Wimbledon when he reached the last 16.
Murray won just two matches in his five tournaments on clay last year but
believes he can make more of an impact in 2007.
"I am looking forward to the clay-court season this year," he added.
Murray's successful defence of the ranking points he won last year means
he remains at number 13 in the world.
If he can avoid the poor run of form that followed San Jose last season,
he is likely to break into the top 10 in the coming weeks.
Murray now moves on to Memphis for the Morgan Keegan Championships this
week, where he will play Canadian Frank Dancevic in his first match.
Murray will play in the Boodles Challenge exhibition tournament at Stoke
Park Club in Buckinghamshire from 19-23 June as part of his warm-up for
Wimbledon.
