LONDON, UK - The All-England Club announced the wildcards for Wimbledon last
week, and they included the youngest ever British women's player to be in the
main draw at Wimbledon. Laura Robson, who is 15, was amongst the eight
players to be given wildcards into the main draw, which also included fellow
Brits Elena Baltacha, Katie O'Brien, Melanie South and Georgie Stoop.
Rounding out the list of wildcard recipients are American teenager Alexa
Glatch, Portugal's Michelle Larcher de Brito and comeback Japanese player
Kimiko Date Krumm, who has not graced the grass at Wimbledon since 1995.
Robson, the youngest player in Wimbledon's main draw since Martina Hingis in
1995, is confident she will play in her top form when she hits the grass at
The Championships: "From the sounds of it, there's going to be quite a lot of
pressure, so I'm just going to have to deal with that," she said. "I don't
know what I'm going to do but all I can do is go on court and try my best.
Then, win or lose, if I've tried my best then I cannot be unhappy."

Though her ranking is No.482, Robson has been allowed into the main draw
under the Lawn Tennis Association's exceptional circumstances rule. The
clause allows junior players into the main draw no matter what their ranking.
Typically the cut-off for Wimbledon is 250.
