The Orlando Magic expect SG Grant Hill to miss Saturday's home game
against the Atlanta Hawks so he can attend his grandmother's funeral.
Vivian McDonald of New Orleans died Monday of cancer.
She was 88. Hill is expected to play Friday against the Heat in Miami.
"More than likely, Grant will miss Saturday's game to attend her services,
" said Coach Brian Hill, who added he didn't know of Hill's travel plans.
Hill probably would not have played in the game.
Given his history of injuries, including a recovery this summer
from a sports hernia,
the Magic's early-season plan is to rest him for one game of a back-to-back.
He sat out against the Timberwolves in Minnesota on Nov. 11
after playing the previous night in Indiana against the Pacers.
Hill has talked fondly of his grandmother, who once operated a business
in New Orleans that made false teeth.
