Injury report: Grizzlies -- Brian Cardinal (sprained right ankle) and Stromile
Swift (left eye injury) are questionable. James Posey (sprained left foot),
Antonio Burks (left hip strain) and Andre Emmett (sore left knee) are on the
injured list.; Kings -- None reported.
KEY MATCHUP: Jason Williams vs Mike Bibby
Williams and Bibby are forever linked since they were traded June 27, 2001.
Since Bibby joined the Kings, Sacramento is 183-76 (.707) in the past four
seasons, including this one. Meanwhile, the Grizzlies have improved from a
.248 winning percentage (53-161) from 1998-99 to 2000-01 to .408 (106-154) with
Williams at the point. Since the trade, both guards have improved their scoring
average and turnovers per game.
INSIDE THE Kings
The Kings average the fewest turnovers in the NBA (12.2). In five games this
season the Kings have turned the ball over 10 times or fewer. Sacramento is
averaging 7.6 turnovers a game in the past three. The Kings also lead the
league in assists per turnover (1.96). Last season, the Kings ranked first in
assists. So far, the Kings are ranked second, averaging 24 assists per game.
INSIDE THE GRIZZLIES
Swingman James Posey participated in practice Monday so the Grizzlies are
hoping to activate him from the injured list. Posey has missed the past 11
games because of a sprained left foot. He's sat out regular-season games
because of injury for the first time since the 2001-02 season, ending a streak
of 179 straight games.
