Tarence Kinsey Hopes to Overcome the Odds Once Again When people watch the NBA Draft on television, they see images of young players’ dreams coming true. With each name that is called, people see players celebrating with their families, going on stage and shaking David Stern’s hand, posing for photos and doing interviews. What people don’t see are the rest of the players sitting in their homes, watching on television, waiting to hear their name called, and the crushing disappointment that comes when two rounds go by and it doesn’t happen. Tarence Kinsey falls into the latter category. The athletic swingman had an outstanding senior season at South Carolina, averaging 15.8 points per game on 45.3% shooting, including 37.6% from three-point range. His points, rebounds, assists and steals increased in each of his four collegiate seasons. He led the Gamecocks to the NIT Title in consecutive seasons as a junior and senior. But on draft night, it wasn’t enough. “It was kind of frustrating. I thought I did enough work in college to get my name called, and to sit there and watch the draft and not get your name called was kind of disappointing, but it was a motivational thing for me,” said Kinsey early in training camp. “It gave me more motivation for Summer League, and that’s what made me go extremely hard and gave me more energy than I thought I had.” But Kinsey’s goal suffered a serious setback when he got elbowed in the face during one of the workouts. He suffered a right orbital fracture, an injury that sidelined him for training camp and the first four preseason games. “I took an elbow to the face and got injured, and I wondered what was going to happen next- do teams release players when they get injured? They brought more players in, are they replacing me?” Through Monday, he’d seen action in two preseason games, averaging 9.0 points in 25.5 minutes per game, but struggled from the field, shooting just 33.3%, and just 22.2% from three-point range. He has two more preseason games left to impress the coaches and try to earn a roster spot. It’s something very few undrafted rookies accomplish, but he’s overcome the odds once already this summer, so it wouldn’t be smart to bet against him. ------------------------- 抱歉一樣沒時間翻譯 但是讀到紅色部分就有一種 男人的悲傷....不知道大家會不會..... 給他一點加油掌聲和鼓勵吧!!
