Pondexter cleared for non-contact practice Grizzlies forward Quincy Pondexter has been cleared for non-contact practices, and was on the floor with the team Thursday as it prepared for a game against the Golden State Warriors Friday night in FedExForum. Pondexter is recovering from a MCL sprain in his left knee and a comeback date hasn't been set. But Pondexter appears well on his way toward returning soon after the All Star break. In you missed it: Pondexter was seen Monday running full speed, repeatedly dunking the basketball and shooting mid-range shots. He looked uninhibited. He's been out since Dec. 29. http://tinyurl.com/bcofynl Grizzlies' Zach Randolph wins NBA's Kia Community Assist award for January Grizzlies forward Zach Randolph received the NBA's Kia Community Assist award for January for his philanthropic and charitable work, the league announced Thursday afternoon. Randolph also won the league-wide award in December 2010. Randolph was recognized in part for his support of the Metropolitan Inter-Faith Association (MIFA). He donated $20,000 to MIFA to be allocated to 100 residents in need of utility assistance in the Memphis area for a fourth straight year. Randolph also met with two single mothers who recently lost their homes because they could not afford to pay their utility bills. He paid their bills so that they could afford housing for their families. “Giving back is what’s important,” Randolph said in a statement. “It’s a blessing for me to be able to help someone else. While it feels good to be recognized, that isn’t why I do it. It’s all about giving back.” Randolph also provided 900 boxes of food to families of students at two Memphis-area high schools, Carver and Booker T. Washington, during the holiday season. He distributed more than 100 coats to kids for the winter season at Cummings Elementary School and teamed up with teammate Tony Allen to sponsor a holiday shopping spree for 200 kids from the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis. NBA Cares Ambassador Bob Lanier will present Randolph with the Kia Community Assist Award Friday before the Grizzlies tip off against the Golden State Warriors. Randolph will receive the David Robinson plaque with the inscription, “Following the standard set by NBA Legend David Robinson who improved the community piece by piece.” In addition, Kia and the NBA will donate $10,000 on Randolph’s behalf to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. http://tinyurl.com/b8xkd5z -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 42.76.87.8
