Tennis: Hantuchova and Sears reunite Mike Donovan Lewes coach Nigel Sears is back with former world top ten player Daniela Hantuchova. Sears split from the Slovakian four months ago citing problems surrounding those close to her off the court. But he agreed to rejoin her following a telephone plea from the troubled 21-year-old. Hantuchova has slid to world number 35 and had a nightmare spell in Australia, winning only one of nine matches. She decided to sack Sears' replacement Harold Solomon with Sears coming back into the fold. Sears said: "When we split I told The Argus that I felt it was an unfinished job. "I knew she needed time to sort herself out because there was a lot of things going on. "She gave me a call and asked if I could come back and help her. "When we separated I was concerned about the troubles going on in the background and that she would have to separate herself from them if she wanted me to return. "She's had a hell of a year but she convinced me she is committed to giving it a go. "I believe she has great potential and can still fulfil it." Sears will address the problem of Hantuchova's lack of weight which caused concern within the game and in the media. Sears said: "I've seen her on television and she does seem light and I will be talking to her about it." Sears revealed he turned down approaches to coach Croatian prospect Karolina Sprem and Xavier Malise, 2002 Wimbledon semi-finalist. He said: "It was nice to be asked but I didn't feel either was quite right for me at the moment. "I still felt I could help Daniela."
