Hello again everyone,
Well my trip here is finishing, but despite the loss we had a great week here,
and for sure I want to come back next year and get much farther in the
tournament! I definitely felt I had my chances, it just didn't work out on the
day.
Now I can finally have some time to rest. It's back to Monte Carlo now for a
few days off, then I'll start getting ready for the next tournaments, which
start in Asia. I'll be getting some treatment on my foot and shoulder too.
It's nearing the end of the season, and I'm starting to think about the
holidays :) It has been a long summer. I'm really looking forward to some down
time. Hopefully I can still enjoy some of the nice weather in Europe next week!
Speaking of the weather, it was so cold here today! It feels like the winter is
almost coming. We went to the same restaurant again tonight, and I had to get a
hot chocolate again! This week has been all about hot chocolate and
cappuccinos... it felt like I was on a winter diet! But really we had SUCH a
great time here. I wanted to spend more time here... but it's time to head home
now.
Thank you to the Bell Challenge and everyone involved in organizing it, and
thank you to everyone for reading and sending in all your questions.
I'll talk to you all again very soon :)
Love, Dani
You are very professional during your matches. How do you control your emotions
so well on the court? Andy, USA
I'm not perfect - sometimes I lose it too :) But usually I try to be as
professional as I can. It's the way I was brought up, the way my parents
educated me. And after all these years, I've realized it won't do me any good
if I get frustrated on the court. Also, I have seen how much energy and effort
people put into making just one racquet, and I immediately felt bad for all the
times I threw racquets before. I think everyone loses it once in a while, but I
try not to show it.
What does it take to beat the top players? Pete
Just being confident and believing in your strengths. That's one thing my coach
has helped me with a lot, I believe in myself much more than I did in previous
years. But I've always felt if I play well I can beat anyone - at the same
time, if I play badly I can lose to everyone! But it's always great to have
weapons and use them, and hopefully I can use them much more in the future.
In the last few years a lot of veteran players have been breaking through with
Grand Slams - what do you think of that trend? Matthew, Australia
I actually love this kind of trend. It definitely keeps me going, keeps me
wanting to work even harder... It's so great to see these girls winning their
first Grand Slams. You just never know. It has been a very interesting year as
far as the Grand Slams. And I think it's great for women's tennis that you have
so many great players and great champions around. It's very exciting.
