Meeting with team president Bernie Mullin By Lascar78 Posted on: 02/22/06 10:31 PM First of all lower your expectations, I won't be giving much dirt up. Tonight was another town hall meeting that was supposed to be with Billy Knight. Unfortunately, Billy Knight had to leave town due to a tragedy in his family, and so Bernie Mullin stepped in. For those who don't know Bernie, he's the president and CEO of the atlanta spirit Bernie started off by making sure that there was no media, and nobody "with a blog" in the room, basically asking not to report the info given up in the meeting. So I figure that since they are cool enough to keep ticket holders in the loop as far as exactly what is going on, I should be cool enough to not spread "inside info". Sorry. But I will say this. I left the last BK meeting with mixed feelings. BK impressed me in a number of ways, yet scared me because a) he doesn't care what anyone thinks and b) he didn't see a need for a point guard at all. That scared me a bit - well a lot. I left with the same opinion as when I got there, that I would judge BK after his moves this offseason. On the other hand, after this meeting with Bernie, I feel 100% CERTAIN that they are great owners (+president), ready to take this franchise back to the top, and that they really know what's going on. Even those fans who disagree with BK should have full faith in this ownership, just trust me on that one. If BK or Woody don't get the job done and there are better options, they will take care of it. That being said, they feel that while ownership can suggest whatever they want to a GM/coach, it is important to let them do their job the way they judge best. If they don't cut it, you fire them. But you don't interfere. (i.e. unlike Belkin - my words not his). So that being said, I will share a thought or two that I feel Bernie wouldn't really care if they got out, and won't share the more juicy info that could help other teams etc... The main points that I feel safe to share are that: -ownership (I use the term loosely and include Bernie) recognizes the fact that we do need a PG in the worst way. This reassured me greatly after hearing BK deny that fact -the immediate focus is on bigs because they feel that it is much easier to find a PG than to find a big -the general guideline to BK is that his next moves should be aimed more towards winning soon, not just looking at the distant future like we did with the Marvin pick Overall Bernie was very likely, and you could tell that he is passionate about the team, and shared some of his frustrations in vivid (and hilarious) detail. I hope he doesn't mind that I shared what little I did. Trust me on this one, the franchise is in good hands. 原文轉載 http://0rz.net/cc15N -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 59.121.56.40
