Stoudamire suspended two games By SEKOU SMITH The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Published on: 02/24/06 Hawks coach Mike Woodson suspended rookie guard Salim Stoudamire for two games without pay Thursday for conduct detrimental to the team. Stoudamire will miss tonight's game at Indiana and Saturday night's home game against Milwaukee. Woodson said he did not want to make internal team business public, but when asked if Stoudamire's suspension had anything to do with the player's demeanor when he comes in and out of games, Woodson said it did. "There's a standard of behavior in the locker room, on the floor and everywhere else that I think you have to uphold as a good teammate that just isn't there," Woodson said. "I'm not going to tolerate it. Not from Salim or anyone else on this team." This is Stoudamire's second benching of the season for essentially the same offense. He was held out of a Jan. 13 game in New York after an incident in Washington two nights earlier. Stoudamire's enigmatic reputation has followed him through his career. Arizona coach Lute Olson benched him in both his junior and senior seasons because of his attitude and demeanor. Stoudamire could not be reached for comment Thursday. However, his agent, Aaron Goodwin, said he spoke with Hawks general manager Billy Knight to find out what precipitated the suspension. "I'm definitely talking to Billy about the circumstance involved," Goodwin said. "I want to make sure Salim is being treated fairly." Childress shooting in elite company Miami Heat center Shaquille O'Neal has some surprising company at the top of the NBA's field goal percentage rankings. Hawks reserve forward Josh Childress is on his trail for the lead. O'Neal is making shots at an alarmingly high rate — 57.0 percent — while Childress is making 56.2 percent of his. For weeks, Childress has had good numbers but not enough shot attempts to get in the mix with the league leaders. But his back-to-back 9-for-12 showings from the floor in the Hawks' last two games have finally allowed him to elbow his way into that elite company. "It's all dunk and layups," Childress said with a smile after the Hawks practiced Thursday. "There might be a few jumpers sprinkled in there." Childress is shooting better than 60 percent this month and .584 for the season at Philips Arena. He's also shooting well from beyond the 3-point line (17-for-34). He's averaging 14.1 points a game this month. Trainer can baby his newest addition Hawks trainer Wally Blase and his wife Kristine welcomed their daughter, Audrey Marie, into the family Thursday morning. The newest addition came a day earlier than expected for Blase, who had already planned to miss tonight's game in Indiana so he could be present for the birth of his first child. 原文轉載 http://www.ajc.com/hawks/content/sports/hawks/stories/0224stoudamire.html -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 59.121.12.131
