Grundy to return to Hawks

By the time they return to town for Wednesday's game against
Indiana, Anthony Grundy should be back in a Hawks uniform. One
of the last players cut during training camp, Grundy has starred
for the Roanoke Dazzle of the NBDL this season.
The Hawks are down two guards with Tyronn Lue (knee) and Salim
Stoudamire (elbow) both out with injuries. That's good news for
Grundy, who has a good chance of finishing the season the same
place he started it, with the Hawks. "He's been here and he's
familiar with everything we do," Hawks coach Mike Woodson said
of Grundy, who is averaging 23.2 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.1
assists.
"We're not going to rush anybody back. And Salim's done for the
season. So we have to do what we can to fill the void." The Hawks
currently have just two healthy guards — Joe Johnson and Royal
Ivey — available.
‧ MOVING DEADLINE: Lue had hoped to be back for today's game in
Orlando. But after working full speed in practice earlier this
week, he said he felt some discomfort around his right knee.
Instead of rushing back, the Hawks play again Tuesday in Charlotte
and against Indiana at home Wednesday, Lue said he's shooting for
Friday night's game against New Jersey. "I'm ready to be back out
there," Lue said. "But my body isn't cooperating right now. Friday
is the day I'm shooting for, though."
‧ LSU'S BIGGEST FAN: Hawks radio analyst and former Georgia Tech
star Dennis Scott has plenty of competition these days, but he's
claiming to be LSU's biggest fan. And he made that statement long
before the Tigers punched their ticket to the Final Four with
Saturday's regional final win over Texas at the Georgia Dome.
"They had me the other night, when they locked J.J. Redick up and
preserved one my records he hasn't broken," a smiling Scott said
of the ACC single-season scoring mark of 970 points that he still
owns. Redick finished with 964. "I'm glad LSU played all that
good defense on him the other night," said Scott, who scored 30
or more points an astonishing 19 times during the 1989-90 season.
"Listen, all you can do when they're defending you like that is
keep shooting. What did Redick finish? Wasn't he something like
3-for-17 [3-for-18, actually]. I would have been 3-for-28, because
I wouldn't have stopped shooting."
