[外電] Big expectations in Orlando
Big expectations in Orlando
While they're nowhere near as imposing on the floor as they
are on paper right now, folks in Orlando are excited about
the future of two promising big men — former Southwest Atlanta
Christian star Dwight Howard and third-year center Darko Milicic.
Howard, the NBA's second-leading rebounder (12.3), has been a
hit since his rookie season. He's averaging 15.6 points and
is third in the league with 50 double-doubles. In Milicic,
acquired in February from Detroit, the Magic has another young
7-footer who can play with Howard. He's averaging 7.1 points
and 4.4 rebounds since joining the Magic.
"If we work hard and play the right way on the floor, we can
cause problems for a lot of teams with our length," Howard
said Sunday.
‧ LUE IN UNIFORM: Hawks reserve point guard Tyronn Lue was in
uniform Sunday and warmed up before the game for the first time
since spraining a ligament in his right knee Feb. 7. Lue has
targeted Friday night's home game against New Jersey as a possible
return date — or sooner if he experiences no discomfort from his
increased activity.
‧ D. SCOTT HONORED: Hawks radio analyst Dennis Scott was honored
after the first quarter as part of the Magic's Commitment to the
Past initiative, where the franchise recognizes former players
with a brief ceremony, a commemorative plaque and a banner that
hangs in the concourse at TD Waterhouse Centre.
Scott, the Magic's all-time leader in 3-pointers (981) and owner
of numerous other club records, including most 3-pointers in a
game (11, vs. the Hawks), received a standing ovation and thanked
the crowd briefly.
