Hawks Comeback Falls Short in Milwaukee Tuesday, March 14, 2006 Filed under: Reviews— Chase Kuech @ 12:23 am Atlanta was down most of the game, but they made a pair of comebacks at the best time, the second of which nearly won them the game. Milwaukee opened the game fast, and jumped out to a lead in the first quarter, before Atlanta came back to trail by only four at the half. They opened up the second half quickly, but Milwaukee took control of the game and led big going into the final frame. The Hawks tried to come back, but it fell short at the end when Al Harrington’s last second shot could not fall. This game made me think about a great deal of things, so before I forget them, I am going to address them. First off, Royal Ivey isn’t that bad. He had 12 points on 6-8 shooting and a couple assists. I know everyone thinks that Atlanta still needs a “true” point guard, but I think while they’re giving players time and giving them a chance to get experience and get better, Ivey has earned his shot. I know he starts, and that’s wonderful, but his minutes should be up near 20 every game. Also, Al Harrington IS that bad. Atlanta has three players who are better than him at the same position so he really has 0 reason to still be here. Now I have been someone who has tried to defend Harrington all year while everyone else bashed him and wanted to give the young guns more time. I think the young guns are finally coming into their own, and Harrington is only going to get in the way. Are we really going to bring him back this summer? Probably not. So why keep him here now? Yeah, I suppose we aren’t left with much of a choice, but his minutes should be cut back like this every night, and Smith, Williams, and Childress should be given a chance to shine. Maybe Josh Smith really can be a scoring forward and not just a rebounder and blocker. After working extremely hard on his jumper in the offseason, it appears it has truly paid off, and Smith is really starting to come into his own as a scorer. The ability for Smith and Ivey to score takes some of the pressure off Johnson, and lets him pass more instead of having to create and shoot all the time. Most people criticize Johnson for just being a shooter and not being able to be a point guard, but it appears that he is becoming comfortable with his position and he’s finally realizing that other players on this team can score. Marvin Williams may not become a superstar, but maybe he’ll become a solid role player for this team, and that may not necessarily be a bad thing. Smith is learning how to score, and Stoudamire has always known how to score, so all Williams really needs to do is play defense and rebound, and he will help this team win. If Williams becomes a scorer too, then it’s all the better for Atlanta, because that will give them four scorers: Stoudamire, Smith, Johnson, and Williams. I think that is the kind of team that management and fans have been praying for. Will it happen? I guess it probably all depends on how much playing time these guys can get this season. Josh Smith led all scorers with 25, and Stoudamire was second with 21. Five Bucks were in double figures, while Jamaal Magloire pulled down 15 rebounds in the contest. In a comparison of the top two picks, Bogut had 10 points, six boards, and five assists, while Williams had nine points, three rebounds, and three steals. Joe Johnson notched 17 assists to go with his nine points and nine boards, in a very Steve Nash-like performance. Atlanta committed nine more personal fouls than the Bucks, and let Milwaukee shoot 50% from the field on route to their 31st victory of the season. The Bucks are now only one win away from finally reaching the .500 record that has eluded them for weeks since their hot start this season. The loss drops Atlanta to 20-41 on the season, as they continue to struggle on the road. The Hawks hit the road again on Wednesday, as they head to Madison Square Garden to take on the Knicks in a battle of two of the worst teams in the Eastern Conference. Should be a shoe-in for National TV. 資料來源 http://0rz.net/7b1ab -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 59.121.18.15
