Justine's 3rd round opponent is Korea's Yoon Jeong Cho. A player that's been
as high as #45 back in July 2003, but had injuries, and is trying to regain
her form in 2005. She fell out of the top #200 in 2004, and is back in now at
#75.
Bio
Date of Birth April 2, 1979 Birthplace, Andong, Korea. Height 5'5 3/4'' (1.67
m),Weight 122 lbs. (55 kg) plays Right-handed (two-handed backhand). Played
in the Athens Olympics, but lost to Italy's Francesca Schiavone in the round
of 32 with the score of 6-2 6-7( 0-7) 4-6. Her best season was 2003, but
plagued with back strain injuries, and she wasn't able to sustain her
momentum.
Cho has solid groundstrokes, and is best on hardcourt. As with many other
Asian players, she is a clean striker of the ball with, timing and pace as
her answers to the bigger hitting WTA regulars on tour. There's a positive
attitude, tenacity, and a nice forehand to the Korean's tennis game.

This will be their first career meeting.
US OPEN History
Lost in first round in 2001. Made the 3rd round in 2002, by defeating Magui
Serna 6-3 6-4, and Paola Suarez 6-4 6-4, only to lose to Monica Seles in the
3rd round 1-6 7-5 3-6. Lost early in 2003 in the 1st round. Cho did not play
the US Open in 2004. Defeated Arantxa Parra 6-4 2-6 6-4 on Tuesday, and
Gisela Dulko 6-4 6-3 yesterday to reach the 3 round at this year's 2005
edition.
2005 WTA Hardcourt matches
Cho started out qualifying in the Australian Open earlier this year, but only
made it to the rd of 32. She played Memphis, a Tier III, and lost to Meghann
Shaugnessy 6-1 6-2 in the quarterfinals. There was Indian Wells, but a loss
to Australia's Samanta Stosur in the rd of 64 with the score of 7-5 6-3.
Entered Miami, but lost early in qualifying. Cho played the summer hardcourt
event in Cincinatti Tier III, and made it to quarterfinal stage, then lost to
Daniela Hantuchova 7-6 (7-1) 4-6 1-6. She entered Stanford, but lost in
qualifying to Meghann Shaughnessy 6-3 6-3
