US OPEN 2005: Justine's New York Trilogy

Justine now enters the second week at the US Open by defeating Yoon Jeong Cho
in her 3rd round on Saturday, Labour day weekend. 6-0 7-6 (7-4). It was match
a comprised of three different stories.
This was the first career meeting with Korea's Yoon Jeong Cho, but Justine
gave her a quick introduction to her style of super nova tennis in the first
set. The Saturday crowd had barely settled in after the American national
anthem of the Star-Spangled Banner with guest vocalist, when Justine broke
Cho's opening game open, and sped away to 4-0 in under 16 minutes. The next
games featured Cho trying to find her tennis, which seemed hampered by
nerves, while Justine tried to give herself a sweet treat of a six-love
scoreline. And she did; first set 6-0 in 24 minutes.
The second set started with Cho serving, and the Saturday audience trying to
encourage the Korean with shouts of her name. Again, Justine continued on her
way to a quick, solid, and 3-1 lead. Everything went in one direction; only
Justine's way. She eased off the match pedal considerably out of boredom, and
Cho worked her way into the second set. From a two break lead at 4-2, Justine
found herself trailing behind as Cho finally shed her nerves, and hit very
fluent cross court forehand winners 5-4. A few double fault gifts from
Justine, and the scoreline was unbelievably at a tiebreaker 6-6. The New York
audience appreciated the effort from the Korean player, and the
Henin-Hardenne comeback which was hinted at with the re-entry of her
previously misplaced aggressive groundstrokes. Justine played harder in the
final stages to take the 2nd set 7-6 (7-4)
