She'll be given the honors at longest running women's Tier 1 tournament in the United States, and seeded #1. The draw was announced on Saturday, and features some of the Belgians biggest clay court rivals. Tennis fans can look forward to more European flair than ever at this year's event. The city of Charleston not only features historic American charm, but personal memories for Justine. The wins at Family Circle Cup set the tone for her championship runs to Roland Garros at Paris in 2003, and 2005. Will Justine be able to win again at the Family Circle Cup? The world's greatest 1-handed backhand virtuoso has a bye in the 1st round. In the 2nd round she'll face off with either Czech Iveta Benesova or Austrian Sybille Bammer. Justine's played Iveta last year in Charleston defeating her in two sets in the 3rd round. For this year's 3rd rounder the Belgian 4x grand slam champion could play another solid Czech Kveta Peschke (WTA# 35). She may then cross paths with Russian Dinara Safina or Serbian Jelena Jankovic in the quarterfinals, and duel with the Swiss top spin wizard Patty Schnyder in the semi-final. The bottom half of the draw stars the Belgian's huge clay court rivals Nadia Petrova, and Svetlana Kuznetsova. Other names to look out for are rising young challengers Nicole Vaidisova, and Anne-Lena Groenfeld. Justine will play her first match on Tuesday or Wednesday. *Kuznetsova retired her semi-final match against Schiavone in Amelia Island today. If there are any changes to the Charleston draw, we will keep you posted on the latest news. Allez Justine!
